It was sunny & blowing a force 3 at the start of the first race of the Phantom open at Sutton Bingham on July 6th must in contrast to the previous days howling gales and rain.

Laser Open 2008

The SBSC Laser open is scheduled for 23rd August 2008 with the first race starting at 11.00am. It will count towards the South-Coast Travellers Series.

After the weather forecast of 48 hours previously, the day turned out to be not too bad at all. The wind was a bit lumpy at times as it came from the north and we had a few snow showers during the afternoon, but we had a lot of sunshine as well. There were 12 takers for the start of the race, with the sole mirror of Julian Cleary starting at 1.30. One of the club Laser 13s sailed by Mike Riley and Pat Tolin started at 1.43. The faster classes started with two Laser radials at 2.02, Alistair in a full Laser 2 minutes later, Rob Jamieson in his Scorpion, Mike Burke in his Kestral and the Phantoms at minute intervals between.
